Vocations Awareness Week : September 2007

• The annual Vocations Mass took place on Thursday September in St Mirin's Cathedral
• Resources for vocations-related Masses, Holy Hours and Prayers can be found on the resources page

2007 seen the commission continue to promote Vocations within the Diocese.

Our main aim for this year was to focus on the Secondary Schools in the Diocese, giving retreats on the theme of Vocation. We carried out retreats in conjunction with the Diocese Youth Commission.

Past Events

2006:Our key theme will again be based on 'In Verbo Tuo' (New Vocations for a New Europe), which was published by the Vatican in 1997 in response to the 'Vocations Crisis' in Europe, and its key themes are

• Creating a culture of vocation
• Widening the 'idea' of Vocation
• "if no one calls, how can anyone respond?"

Vocations 2006 - Events

Based on the above themes, it was the commission's intention to attempt to 'promote a culture of vocation' in the Diocese by organising various events to highlight the key themes from 'In Verbo Tuo'. We continued to provide Parishes and Organisations throughout the Diocese with information and resources to help them to spread the sentiments of In Verbo Tuo to the people of the Diocese.
