2002 Vocations Awareness Week, September 2002: This week was the first major project that the commission undertook.

    • First of all various packs were sent to each parish, providing suggested materials suitable for Vocations Awareness Week.
    • The week opened with a very beautiful and very well attended Vocations Mass at St Joseph's in Greenock, celebrated by Bishop John.
    • Next were two Vocations Fairs, held in St Patrick's Greenock and St Mirin's Cathedral Paisley respectively. These evenings consisted of several speakers, both religious and lay, giving testimonies about their vocation. The speakers came froma variety of backgrounds; Religious, Priesthood, Education, Television, to name but a few. As well as this, the fair provided Religious organisations from all around the diocese to host a stall promoting their particular organisation. Representatives from several Religious orders, SCIAF, H.C.P.T, Saint Vincent De Paul, Youth, and the Legion of Mary, to name but a few, all attended and shared information and resources about their group.
    • Finally to close Vocations Awareness Week a Mass and Barbecue was held at St John's Barrhead. The spiritual aspect of the week was concluded in a very special way by Fr Stephen and the social aspect afterwards brought an enjoyable and rewarding week to a close.
    • As a result of the activities of Vocations Awareness Week, hopefully awareness of vocation has risen in everyone who attended. the experiences and the prayers of this week will hopefully bear fruit as we embrace the future.
